Retaining Walls

Retaining walls are structural — they hold back tonnes of soil and water pressure, and a wall built without engineering will eventually bulge, crack, or fail outright. FirmWay designs and installs segmental retaining walls using engineered systems from Unilock and Techo-Bloc, with geogrid reinforcement specified to the wall height and soil conditions.

Behind every wall we install a full drainage envelope: a perforated weeping tile bedded in clear stone, wrapped in non-woven geotextile, and daylighted to prevent hydrostatic pressure from building behind the wall. This single detail is the difference between a wall that lasts thirty years and one that fails in five.

We integrate steps, seat walls, planters, and low-voltage LED lighting into the same build, so your retaining wall becomes a finished landscape feature rather than a utilitarian barrier. All walls over 1 metre are submitted for permit and built to the engineered drawings.
